Service Description

Escape the lights of town and step into the quiet desert beneath one of the darkest skies in North America. This immersive stargazing experience takes place within the Flagstaff Area National Monuments, a protected landscape known for its pristine night skies and sweeping desert horizons. In this remarkable setting, thousands of stars become visible to the naked eye while the Milky Way stretches across the sky from horizon to horizon. After settling into comfortable chairs with blankets and warm drinks, your astronomy guide will introduce the night sky with a laser-guided tour of the constellations before inviting guests to explore the universe through a powerful motorized telescope. Depending on the season, we may observe: • Saturn’s rings • Jupiter and its moons • Distant galaxies millions of light-years away • Ancient star clusters • Nebulae where new stars are born Whether you're an avid astronomy enthusiast or simply curious about the universe, this relaxed and welcoming experience offers an unforgettable opportunity to reconnect with the night sky beneath some of the darkest skies in the American Southwest. Because the experience takes place within the Flagstaff Area National Monuments, a monument pass is required for each vehicle entering the park. Passes can be purchased in advance online or at the monument entrance stations. You can purchase passes here: https://www.nps.gov/wupa/planyourvisit/fees.htm The monument pass is valid for seven days, giving guests the opportunity to return during the daytime to explore the incredible landscapes, ancient pueblos, hiking trails, and cultural history of the Flagstaff Area National Monuments. Many visitors choose to visit during the day to see the ruins and scenic viewpoints, then return in the evening for this unforgettable dark sky experience.
